Abstract

A series of 5-{2-[(substituted phenyl) amino] ethyl}-1, 3, 4-oxadiazole-2-thiol (IIIa-i) derivatives were synthesized by the reaction of 3-[(substituted phenyl) amino] propanehydrazide (IIa-i) with carbon disulphide in presence alc. KOH. Structures of the compounds were confirmed by the spectral data such as IR, ¹H-NMR. All the synthesized compounds were tested against a panel of gram positive, gram negative bacteria and fungi using cup-plate-agar diffusion method. Some compounds shown promising activity.
