The methanolic extract of the leaves of Lagerstroemia parviflora (Roxb) was tested for its Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) against different fungi belonging to Candida, Aspergillus and Penicillium species. Further, zones of inhibition produced by the crude extract against the fungal strains were measured and compared with those produced by standard antifungal agent Griseofulvin. The extract was proved that it was highly toxic against Candida albicans ATCC10231, Aspergillus thiogentalis MTCC 804, Penicillum notatum ATCC 6275, Penicillum funiculosum NCTC 287, and Penicillum citrinum MTCC 1256. The extract showed less toxicity against Aspergillus niger (ATCC 6275). The extract was found to be fungistatic in its action. Keywords

Background: Modification in sustained release system is a newly developed area that has shown good control over the administration of drug by maintaining systemic concentrations. Objective: The study was conducted to formulate a sustained release tablet of antidiabetic drug, glipizide, with improvement in patient’s compliance. Methods: Sustained release tablet of glipizide was prepared by using different concentration of natural polymers like guar gum, chitosan and xanthan gum as a release modifier by wet granulation method. The tablets had been analyzed by chemical and physical parameters. Drug and polymer interactions had been studied by FT-IR and in vitro drug release had been studied using rotating paddle dissolution apparatus. The release rate had been studied on different models in order to measure their release kinetics. Results: Obtained FT-IR spectra interpreted no interaction of used natural polymers. Over a period of 12 hrs the maximum drug release was 98.66%. Conclusion: The results of the study successfully revealed that the formulated sustained release tablet of glipizide could be formulated by use of natural polymers which could provide maximum drug release and this study could further be explored to formulate other doasage forms by using natural source polymers. Keywords

From the prehistoric, ancient age to the modern-day, genus Rubus species are already known for their healing properties such as in neurodegenerative and psychological disorders, cancer, diarrhoea, colic pain, diabetes, nephrological, and inflammatory disorders. Based on their phytochemistry and pharmacology it is an attempt to achieve a greater knowledge of the biological significance of these herbal medicinal plants. The ultimate aim of this review is to deliver the magnification of research at the cellular and molecular level in the management of nervous breakdowns and other diseases. An exhaustive literature search was performed by online databases such as Springer, Scopus, and Elsevier. In this review, the different novel medicinal plants belong to the genus Rubus, used to treat enormous ailments based on traditional and literature search, their potential bioactive species belong to the same genus.

Numerous mental diseases can be caused by anxiety or anxiety-like effects, but phobia is a prevalent overcoming symptom that frequently causes stress. At present, two primary anxiety-treatment approaches are being considered: Psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy. So many traditional synthetic anxiolytic drugs with such a variety of side effects are used in the pharmacological clinical approach. As a result, scientists are searching for studies that will help them find suitable safe medications from plant sources. large experimental studies have assured that dietary phytoconstituents such as terpenoids, alkaloids, phenolic compounds, flavonoids, lignan, saponins, and cinnamates, and plant infusion comprising a combination of the various substance, have stronger action in a variety of the anxiety models in animals. The mechanisms of action of anxiolytics involve relationships with the GABA A receptor on both non-BZD sites and in Benzodiazepine (BZD).Keywords
