Abstract

Developing countries all over the world face a multitude of challenges in overcoming various barriers and providing access to oral health care services to the rural and remote population. These areas are maximally affected in achieving oral health care, due to shortage of manpower, resources and distance from established dental set-ups. This study was carried out with the primary purpose of understanding the impact of accessibility to dental schools on the oral health status and oral hygiene awareness of a sample population. A total of 374 subjects were evaluated in the age range of 9-11yr, 12-13 yrs and 14- 15 yrs, out of which 187 subjects having access to dental schools were assessed for various parameters and compared to an equal number of age matched controls living far away from dental schools. Results showed a poorer oral health status and oral hygiene awareness amongst the children residing far away from dental schools as compared to those residing near dental schools. Age wise comparisons indicated a poorer oral hygiene amongst the 14-15 year olds with a higher treatment need as compared to the younger age groups.

Abstract

A simple and rapid spectrophotometric dual wavelength method has been developed for simultaneous estimation of amlodipine besylate and valsartan in tablet dosage form. Two wavelengths selected were 227 and 244nm, for estimation of valsartan and 360 nm for amlodipine besylate using methanol as a solvent. Both the drugs obeyed Beer-Lambert's law over the concentration range 5-100μg/ml and 5-50μg/ ml for valsartan and amlodipine besylate. The r² for valsartan and amlodipine besylate were 0.9982 and 0.9973 with mean percent recovery of 100.23 and 99.66 respectively. The Relative standard deviations for validation parameters were found to be less then the 5%.

Abstract

Multiconstraints optimal network load balancing is an NP-hard problem and it is an important part of traffic engineering. In this research we balance the network load using classical method (brute force approach and dynamic programming is used but result shows the limitation of this method) but at a certain level we recognized that the optimization of balanced network load with increased number of nodes and demands is intractable using the classical method because the solution set increases exponentially. In such case the optimization techniques like evolutionary techniques can employ for optimizing network load balance. In this paper we analyzed proposed classical algorithm and evolutionary based genetic approach is devise as well as proposed in this paper for optimizing the balance network load.

Abstract

Insulating materials subjected to electrical and thermal-electrical stresses exhibit life line characteristics which show a tendency to reach an electrical threshold. Their fit is investigated with reference to several sets of data derived from accelerated life tests performed on different insulating materials.

Life line models provide the estimates of failure time percentiles at selected probabilities and stresses so that life curves at fixed failure probabilities can be drawn. These characteristics should help in the choice of compatible thermal and electrical stresses for the design of insulation systems, apparatus and components.

The tests to be conducted to plot the characteristic curves involve Class B insulation (up to 8 specimens) under three active stress levels. Subsequently, using the data acquired, the Weibull probability distribution curves are plotted using STATISTICA software.

Abstract

The involvement of various systems with Covid-19 manifestation ranging from asymptomatic to sudden cardiac arrest have been reported. Cardiovascular complications are the most dreadful ones as they can lead to further decompensation of patient and decrease the chances of recovery. Arrhythmic tendencies increase with the severity of covid illness. More frequently are the tachyarrhythmias including atrial fibrillation, sinus tachycardia and ventricular ectopic. We report such a case of covid induced high-grade atrioventricular block that was transient with spontaneous recovery after the waiting period.

Abstract

The barrier function of the skin limits transdermal medication delivery. Vesicular systems are one of the most contentious mechanisms for delivering active compounds transdermally. The discovery of elastic vesicles such transferosomes, ethosomes, cubosomes, phytosomes, and others reignited interest in creating transdermal delivery systems. Vesicular drug delivery systems are highly organised assemblies made up of one or more concentric bilayers that form when amphiphilic building units self-assemble in water. Because of their potential to localise drug activity at the site or organ of action while reducing its concentration at other places in the body, vesicular drug delivery systems are particularly significant for targeted drug delivery. The vesicular drug delivery system keeps drug activity at a specified rate, keeps drug levels in the body reasonably constant (zero order kinetics), and reduces unwanted side effects at the same time. It can also target medication delivery utilizing carriers or chemical derivatization to localise drug action in the affected tissue or organ. Vesicular drug delivery systems have been used to improve The therapeutic index, solubility, stability, and rapid degradation of a pharmacological molecule are all important factors to consider. As a result, a number of innovative vesicular drug delivery systems that allow drug targeting and prolonged or regulated drug release have been produced. This review will focus on diverse lipoidal and non-lipoidal vesicles, with a special emphasis on pharmaceutical targeting.

Abstract

Solubility is the process of a solid dissolving in a liquid phase, resulting in a homogeneous system. Solubility is a crucial characteristic for achieving the appropriate drug concentration in the systemic circulation and demonstrating pharmacological response. Drugs that are poorly water soluble require substantial dosages to achieve therapeutic plasma concentrations following oral administration. Low aqueous solubility is a major issue in the development of novel chemical entities' formulations. Any medicine that needs to be absorbed must be in the form of an aqueous solution at the absorption site. For liquid medicinal compositions, water is the preferred solvent. The majority of medications are weakly acidic and basic, with low water solubility. Micronization, chemical modification, pH adjustment, solid dispersion, complexation, cosolvency, micellar solubilization, hydrotropy, and other procedures are used to increase the solubility of weakly water-soluble pharmaceuticals. The goal of this review paper is to present solubilization approaches for achieving optimal absorption and increased bioavailability.

Abstract

The goal of this review on floating drug delivery systems (FDDS) was to compile latest data with a particular focus on the main mechanism of flotation for stomach retention. Drug delivery systems that float instantly when they come into contact with gastric fluids are promising approaches for increasing the bioavailability of drugs within absorption window in the stomach or upper small intestine. They are unstable in the intestinal or colonic environment and have low solubility at high pH values. The Current pharmaceutical scenario focuses on the development of sustained drug delivery systems to achieve required therapeutic concentration with less amount of dose. Oral delivery of the drug is the preferable drug delivery system. Because of the ease of administration, patient compliance and formulation flexibility. The ability to delay and control the emptying period of a dosage form in the stomach is an extremely variable process. For dosage forms that stay in the stomach for longer periods of time than standard dosage forms so the gastric transit time is a valuable asset for this system. The goal of this review article is to provide detailed information on the pharmaceutical basis of their design, classification, advantages, in vitro and in vivo evaluation parameters, and applications of floating systems. These systems can help with a variety of issues that arise during the development of a pharmaceutical dosage form, as well as the potential of FDDS in the future. This review article makes an attempt to introduce readers to current developments in floating drug delivery systems.
