Peripheral ameloblastoma is a rarest subgroup accounting for only 2 to 10% of all ameloblastomas. The differential diagnosis of peripheral ameloblastoma and oral basal cell carcinoma is difficult based on their histological features alone as both tumors exhibit similar proliferating basaloid epithelial strands in subepithelial connective tissue of oral cavity. The article presents a rare case of peripheral ameloblastoma arising in maxillary anterior gingiva and its histopathological diagnostic dilemma with oral basal cell carcinoma. Keywords

The emergence of social media has made a huge difference in our lives. The extension of social media to evaluate performance in academics is a new entity. Alternative metrics or altmetrics is a relatively new and emerging sector which utilizes the platform of various outlets of social media to determine the impact of a research work. Blogs, Twitter, Facebook, etc. are now commonly used avenues for research discussion. These avenues can be tapped upon to create a cumulative profile of a research or publisher. However, many believe that altmetrics is just a transient blip on the screen and does not provide complete details. This commentary provides an overview of altmetrics, but with a pinch of salt.References

Introduction: Influenza A (H1N1) is the most recent of the pandemic diseases that has affected the world’s population. The aim of this study was to assess knowledge, attitudes and behaviours regarding H1N1 pandemic among Malaysian dental students. Methodology: The data was collected using a self-administered questionnaire and results were analysed using SPSS version 15. Results: The most common symptoms identified were fever (50.8%), breathing difficulty (41.0%), and cough (39.3%). It was considered to be a moderately dangerous infection by approximately one third of the students (31.1%). Majority (88.9%) of the students agreed that washing hands with soap is the most effective preventive measure. It was followed by travel restriction that was reported by 77% of them as a preventive measure for the pandemic. Conclusion: This study concluded that a large number of students did not have complete awareness about disease transmission, preventive measures, vaccinations, and treatments available. Keywords
