A total of 24 ostracode species belonging to 14 genera are recorded from the Krishna River estuary and Gautami-Godavari estuary. The study reveals that the upper estuary is dominated by thin shelled Hemicytheridea andhraensis (Annapurna and Rama Sarma) and few fresh water ostracodes having low frequency (05) and diversity (2-3). The lower estuary ostracodes have some influence of marine ostracodes and comparatively high frequency (50-60) and diversity (08). Ostracodes recorded from the lower estuary are represented by Kallingella mckenziei Jain, Neosinocythere dekrooni (Kingma), Tanella gracilis Kingma, Neomonoceratina iniqua (Brady), Phlycetenophora orientalis (Brady) along with Hemicytheridea andhraensis (Annapurna and Rama Sarma). This study will be helpful in understanding and recognizing palea subenvironment and thus helpful in developing precise pafeodepositonal model which will give further lead to hydrocarbon exploration. Keywords

Cetirizine dihydrochloride (CZ) is (RS)-2-[2-[4-[(4- chlorophenyl) phenyl methyl] piperazine-1-yl] ethoxy] acetic acid dihydrochloride and is a long acting nonsedating antihistamine drug with some mast-cell stabilizing activity. CZ is therapeutically applied for the symptomatic relief of allergic conditions including rhinitis and chronic urticaria.

A simple, precise and accurate HPLC method has been validated to measure lamivudine and zidovudine at single wavelength (270 nm) in order to assess in vitro drug release profile of drug from tablet formulation. The chromatographic separation was achieved on a Hypersil SS C18 (250 mm × 4.6 mm, 5μm) analytical column. Methanol was used as the mobile phase, at a flow rate of 1 ml/min. The release of lamivudine and zidovudine from in dissolution medium (distilled water) and in the reference dissolution medium (0.1 N HCl) was studied using the USP type II apparatus. The parameters similarity factor, according to current FDA guidelines, dissolution efficiency, t50 and dissolution rate constant (k) were employed to compare dissolution profiles. It was concluded that test dissolution method was equivalent to the reference dissolution method.

A highly sensitive spectrofluorimetric procedure is developed for the analysis of certain fluoroquinolones: norfloxacin (NFX), sparfloxacin (SFX) and ofloxacin (OFX) in their pharmaceutical dosage forms and in biological fluids. This procedure is based upon the intrinsic fluorescence of selected drugs in 0.1N H2SO4. The excitation (λext ) and emission wavelengths (λemis.) are 270 nm and 464 nm, 276 nm and 442 nm, 280 nm and 510 nm for NFX, SFX and OFX respectively. The calibration curve was rectilinear from the 0.8-2 μg mL-1, 0.4-2.8 μg mL-1 and 0.01-0.4 μg mL-1 for NFX, SFX and OFX respectively. The accuracy and precision of the proposed method was confirmed by estimating six replicates within Beer-Lambert limits for each of the investigated drug with correlation coefficient not less than 0.999. The developed method was applied successfully for the determination of the studied drugs in their pharmaceutical dosage forms and in the biological fluids with a good precision and accuracy compared to official and reported methods as revealed by statistical analysis. Keywords
