Present study, conducted during low tide (Feb. 2007) and high tide (Apr. 2007), revealed that the tannery effluents after mixing with the sewage canals near Karaidanga changes the water chemistry of storm weather flow canal culminating into Bidyadhari river to a large extent with respect to conductivity, total alkalinity, total nitrogen and trace metals. The effect of dilution during high tide greatly reduces the concentration of these parameters downstream before mixing with Bidyadhari river. Keywords
