For purposes of studying the impact of developmental activities and tourism on Pench National Park, the entire Park has been divided into three zones : (i) area adjacent to the village boundary and allowed use of NTFPs by the villagers; (ii) area open to tourism, and (iii) core area. The results indicate that peoples' proximity to the reserved areas does not affect the biodiversity much as their dependence on forests is limited to NTFPs only. Biodiversity is negatively affected by tourism pressures and developmental activities such as construction of roads, dams which cause disturbance to the biota of the area.- Biological Spectrum of the Vegetation of Ratlam District (M.P.)

In the present paper, the life forms of the angiosperms of Ratlam district, -belonging to 116 families 461 genera and 802 species have been studied. The same has been compared with Rauntkiaer's normal spectrum and other spectra of similar climatic regions of India. Phaeaerophytes, Therophytes, Chamaephytes, Geophytes, Lianas, Parasites and Epiphytes represent 14.5, 50.1, 12.1, 12.3, 10.3, 0.37 & 0.25 percentage of vegetation respectively. The dominance oftherophytes indicate the phytoclimate of district as therophytic which is characteristic of semi-arid zones.- Phyletic Versus Phenetic Approach of Classification a Case Study from Family Euphorbiaceae
