Abstract

In this paper, we have proposed the use of linearly chirped fiber Bragg gratings for dispersion compensation of 40Gb/s NRZoptical communication system. The observations are based on the modeling and numerical simulation of optimum dispersion-managed transmission link. Transmission over 750 kilometers has been shown with minimum BER at optimal decision threshold (10-9) by varying the input optical power from 0 to 12 dBm. It has been observed that the system gives the optimum performance at input power 9dBm beyond which the nonlinear effects dominate and deteriorates the signal. Various parameters like BER, Q value, Eye closure penalty have been investigated to obtain the optimum performance.

Abstract

The routing is restricted by a multiple constraints such as node buffer capacities, residual link capacities, and the number ofhops on the path that often makes the routing problem intractable. These multiple constraints have very diverse effects on delay, delay jitter, loss ratio, bandwidth, and so on especially in distributed applications such as Internet phone and distributed games. Secondly, any future integrated services network is likely to carry both QoS and best effort traffic, which makes the issue of performance optimization complicated. Thirdly, the network state changes dynamically due to transient load fluctuation, connections in and out, link up and down and thus, the growing network size makes it increasingly difficult to gather up-to-date state information in such dynamic environments. The mathematical forms including these factors together becom extremely complex to derive and difficult to work with. This is one area where Adaptive fuzzy mechanism is beneficial.

Abstract

Chromatic dispersion is a broadening of the input signal as it travels down the length of the fiber. We observed in Ethernet Passive Optical Networks with dispersion map that as we increase the transmission distances our dispersion result are increase and worsens the overall performance of the system. We observed BER results at 20 Km these are in between 10-15 to 10-16 of dispersion level 0 to 300 ps/nm.
