Red rot of sugarcane caused by Colletotrichum falcatum is a major constraint in sugarcane production causing substantial loss in yield and quality. Use of biocontrol agents is an effective, eco-friendly and non-hazardous possibility for red rot management. In the present investigation potential bio-control agents were screened against C. falcatum on sugarcane. Among the 15 species/ isolates of bacterial and fungal antagonistic organisms screened against C. falcatum in dual culture, Pseudomonas fluorescens isolate-1 and Trichoderma viride isolate-3 showed maximum inhibitory effect on C. falcatum. These two isolates identified as more potential biocontrol agents in the present investigation can be exploited to control red rot of sugarcane.Keywords

Experiments were carried out to develop an effective biocontrol method against sugarcane red rot disease under field conditions in sugarcane var. CoC-671. Integrated approach as sett treatment + foliar spray + soil application of the antagonistic organism Pseudomonas fluorescens recorded the lowest disease incidence (10.37 per cent), higher germination (77.67 per cent), more number of tillers (2.67/ha), economic shoots (1.95/ha) and increased yield (47.80tonnes/ha), highest brix value (21.27 per cent), sucrose (18.67 per cent) and commercial cane sugar (10.86 per cent) in the sugar cane var. In this paper, a combination of different wavelength injection techniques is demonstrated in a bidirectional WDM PON's implementation using arrayed waveguide grating. Wavelength reusable ONU's are provided with fiber bragg grating at particular wavelength, so that it reflects particular wavelength and transmits the remaining power, which is re-modulated as upstream by LiNbO3 modulator. Self seeding based ONU's are provided with reflective semiconductor optical amplifier, so that it not only function as amplifier, but also as a modulator for upstream generation(no need of local sources). Externally wavelength injected ONU's are provided with local source for upstream generation. The integration of all three wavelength injection techniques makes a true next generation PON technologies. The performance of implemented system has been analyzed on the basis of Min-log of BER versus OSNR, Min-log of BER versus received power. The performance of wavelength reusable based ONU's are close to externally injected ONU's performance in both downstream and upstream, so that it can be used in place of externally wavelength injected with link-length trade-off. Self-seeding based ONU's performance is close to externally wavelength injected ONU's performance below 50Km link-length in both downstream and upstream, so that it can be used in place of externally wavelength injected with upstream data rate trade-off.Keywords

In this paper, we investigate OFDM-WDM-PON as an effective method for achieving high data rates in which OFDM is used as key element to combat dispersion. Large guard band intervals between adjacent OFDM symbols accommodate the distortion introduced by chromatic dispersion leading to reduced ISI. The system design involves the realization of FTTH by integrating OFDM, WDM and PON. OFDM also aids in improving receiver sensitivity. An aggregate of 40 Gbps, Direct detection OFDM-WDM-PON is designed and analyzed. Dispersion compensation techniques are used to achieve a bit error rate in the order of 10-8 and a split ratio of 1100 is achieved.Keywords

Efficiency and privacy are two fundamental issues in moving object monitoring. This paper proposes a privacy-aware monitoring (PAM) framework that addresses both issues. The framework distinguishes itself from the existing work by being the first to holistically address the issues of location updating in terms of monitoring accuracy, efficiency and privacy, in particular when and how mobile clients should send location updates to the server. Based on the notions of safe region and most probable result, PAM performs location updates only when they would likely alter the query results. Furthermore, by designing various client update strategies, the framework is flexible and able to optimize accuracy, privacy or efficiency. We develop efficient query evaluation/reevaluation and safe region computation algorithms in the framework. The experimental results show that PAM substantially outperforms traditional schemes in terms of monitoring accuracy, CPU cost and scalability while achieving close-to-optimal communication cost.Keywords

This variation creates huge number of data’s, and that to be maintained effectively. These uncertain and dynamic data’s are very tedious to maintain and to manipulate. To overcome the above issues, several studies introduced numerous techniques in data mining. This paper gives a survey about the data mining techniques and tools used in agriculture. The data mining techniques used in agriculture which includes clustering techniques such as K-Means, Fuzzy, KNN, and classification techniques such as Bayesian, Artificial Neural network, SVM and Decision Tree etc. This also makes discussion about the problems of those techniques in the real time analysis.

A laboratory study was conducted to assess the performance of a Hybrid Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (HUASB) Reactor in order to treat the effluent from a paper mill. The maximum organic loading rate (OLR) is 12 kg COD/m3.day. The OLR was calculated on the basis of COD inlet in the reactor for different flow rates. A hydraulic retention time (HRT) of 12 hrs was maintained in the reactor. The maximum TCOD and SCOD reduction was 92% and 88% respectively. The maximum biogas production was 3.27 m3/m3.day. Development of granulation with two different inoculums in early start-up was also studied. The study revealed that earlier start-up and granulation of biomass could be achieved using mixed sludge (cow dung and effective microorganisms). Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) study of the granules showed predominance of Methanosarcina and Methanothrix type of species on the surface of granules. The process efficiency and biogas production were found to be increased with an increase in the organic loading rate. The size of the granules was 1-3 mm and exhibited good settling tendency.Keywords
