The fruit of Borassus flabellifer Linn. belonging to family Areaceae reported to be posses the antioxidant activity. The extracts have been also evaluated for antioxidant activity by using in-vitro methods DPPH (2, 2-Diphenyl-1 picryl hydrazyl) and ABTS (2, 2-azinobis-(3-ethylbenzo-thiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) assay. The phytochemical analysis carried out revealed the presence of saponins, tannins, flavonoids, carbohydrates, amino acids and phenolic compounds in the extracts. Keywords

Borassus flabellifer Linn. (Areaceae) is a tall tree (palm) growing in sandy soil and attaining a height of 20-30 meters with straight trunk. The extraction was carried out around 300 gm of powder was subjected to successive hot continuous extraction (Soxhelt) with petroleum ether, ethyl acetate, chloroform, methanol, chloroform-water. The Phytochemical analysis carried out revealed the presence of Saponins, tannins, flavonoids, carbohydrates, amino acids and phenolic compounds in the extracts. For assessing in-vitro antioxidant activity total antioxidant capacity and determination of total phenolic content methods were used. In total antioxidant capacity aqueous extract was found a significant antioxidant activity. In determination of total phenolic content alcoholic extract shown highly significant result.

Stain removal is the process of removing a mark or spot left by one substance on a specific surface like fabric. The objective of present investigation is to formulate herbal stain removal for removing the stain from the fabrics. A solvent or detergent is generally used to conduct stain removal & many of these are available over another. In the present study stain removal was formulated by using herbal ingredients like Eucalyptus oil, Tween 80, Poloxomer, Citric acid, Carboxy methyl cellulose, Rose oil, Neem oil. The three different formulae were formulated viz. formula F1, formula F2 and formula F3. The six different samples of stain were used for observation of stain removal like tea, ketchup, ink, iodine, mud, blood. The action of prepared formulation was seen on these stained fabrics. All the formulations shows positive results and formula F3 was shows the best results than other formulations. Keywords

Human beings have been using the plants for treating their injuries, disorders since ancient times. With modernization of medical science these uses have been exploited for inventions of many drugs. But still many tribes are using drugs in their primitive form and knowledge of such formulations is limited to their community. This traditional knowledge is hardly communicated to people other than the members of community. This knowledge must be recorded, documented and an attempt to establish scientific correlation should be made. Kaas plateu and the region is a biodiversity hotspot and local people are still using the natural remedies for treating the disorders. The current ethnomedicinal survey is aimed to identify, collect such plants used by local people to treat ailments like convulsions, malaria and jaundice. Information of such plants and way of using them was collected. 10 plants were identified and their information was recorded. The information pooled from this survey can be further used for establishing the scientific data pertaining to these claims. If such claims are proven scientifically standardized methods can be developed for the reliable and reproducible use of these remedies. Keywords
