PurposeRespiratory muscle strength is measured as a maximal inspiratory pressure (PI max) and maximal expiratory pressure (PE max). The purpose of this investigation is to obtain normal maximal inspiratory and expiratory pressure with respect to age, sex, height, weight and BMI in Indian population.
SubjectsIn this cross sectional study 250 subjects with age from 20 to 70 years were recruited with convenient sampling. They are divided in to five groups i.e. 20-30, 30-40, 40-50, 50-60 and 60- 70. Each group had 50 subjects (males-25 and females-25).
MethodsFor measurement of PE max the subject will inhale to near total lung capacity (TLC) and then exhale as hard as possible and for PI max the subjects exhales to near residual volume (RV) and then give a maximal inhalation effort. Three measurements were taken for each subjects and the best one was included for analysis.
ResultsThe mean value for PI max in male is (75 ± 20 cm H2O) and for PE max is (93± 33 cm H2O) and PI max in female is (48 ± 16 cm H2O) and for PE max is (60 ± 20 cm H2O).
ConclusionData obtained from this study will be useful as simple, reproducible, rapid assessment and interpretation of respiratory muscle function as well as treatment planning.

Introduction
Communication is essential in almost all aspects of health care, from history taking to providing information to the patient. Communication skills have a significant impact on patient care and correlate with improved health outcomes and health care quality.
Purpose of study
To assess the attitudes of undergraduate and post graduates physiotherapy students towards communication skill learning and to study the effect of an interactive lecture on communication skill on the attitude of undergraduate and postgraduate students towards learning communication skill's.
Methodology
Study design: Randomized controlled trial Subjects All Undergraduate, Interns, and Post graduate students of Physiotherapy requiring direct interaction with patients were included in this study. Testing instrument The Communication Skills Attitude Scale (CSAS) was used to assess the attitudes towards communication skill learning.
Results
The mean base line score of CSAS was calculated for the experimental&control group which was 86.38 and 87.5 respectively. Repeated measures ANOVA showed no statistically significant difference between the experimental&Control group.
Conclusion
Positive result was shown towards communication skill learning among the physiotherapy students. However, the attitude did not improve after a brief interactive lecture on communication skills.

Organisations are social systems where human resources are the most important factors for effectiveness and efficiency. Organisations need effective managers and employees to achieve their objectives. Leadership is a process by which a person influences others to accomplish an objective and plays a crucial role in many professions, such as banking, education, healthcare, insurance service jobs. Infact, leadership styles are one of the important factors that have the prospective to improve the employee satisfaction and performance. The purpose of this research paper is to examine the relationship between leadership styles and job satisfaction among of 842 subordinates and 421 their respective supervisors. Structural Equation Modeling is used to test the hypothesised relationship.The results revealedthat transformational style and democratic style have a positive impact on job satisfaction but transactional style and laissez faire style have a negative impact on job satisfaction. To enhance skills of the employees, the study suggested that firms who want to adopt the job satisfaction must resource their initiatives and increase the capabilities that should be given serious attention by organisation aiming to be world class.Keywords

For many years psychologists tended to limit their focus to work related issues (e.g., tasks, jobs, occupation) and left the subject of domestic matters to other areas of professional study. However, in the last three decades, there has been a dramatic increase in the amount of research devoted to understanding the linkages between work and family life. A variety of linking mechanisms have been proposed that explain the nature of the relationship between work and family roles (Edwards & Rothbard, 2000), the most prominent of which are conflict (or interference), accommodation, enrichment, compensation, and segmentation. Understanding the mechanisms by which work and family life affect each other will help individuals and their employers determine the most effective ways to reduce work-family interference and increase work-family enrichment. The present study tries to establish the relationship between work-family linkage, attachment styles, job-satisfaction and life satisfaction. The sample of the present study comprised of 100 dual earner couples (N = 200) with urban background in the age group of 30 to 45 years. The measures used were Work-family Linkage Questionnaire (WFLQ), Attachment Style Questionnaire, Job Satisfaction Questionnaire and Life-Satisfaction Scale. The data was analysed by employing Pearson's Product moment correlation. The results have been discussed in the same light.Keywords

The prevalence of groups and teams at the workplace makes it imperative to understand their effects on group members and their performance. In fact, the growing use of work groups has impelled scholars&management theorists to analyse the various factors that determine or hinder group performance and effectiveness. This paper focuses on the mediation effects of group conflict and group stress on group politics and group performance relationship. The study is confined to the groups working in head offices of J&K public corporations of Jammu city. Census method is followed in contacting 1189 employees (group members) working in the head offices of all the eighteen J&K public corporations, out of which 888 employees responded effectively. Baron and Kenny's (1986) procedure is applied to check mediating role of group conflict and group stress in group politics- group performance relationship. Results revealed that group stress fully mediates the group politics - group performance relationship whereas group conflict partially mediates this relationship. The study suggests that the managers of public sector corporations must take necessary steps to reduce favouritism in their respective corporations by applying pay and promotion policies ethically, rewarding the hardworking people, equal interaction with all the members, giving chance to every employee to complete the assigned task, educating the staff regarding various policies and creating an environment of trust. Moreover, public sector employees must be encouraged to make use of RTI so that they could keep a check on their corporation's activities and ensure transparency in the system. This study is restricted to the public sector groups only and future studies could be conducted on the professional groups and private sector groups.Keywords

The present paper investigates the impact of shared leadership on group performance and mediating role of group potency in the shared leadership and performance relationship. 114 groups working in head offices of J&K public corporations in Jammu were contacted to collect data. Results showed significant and positive effects of shared leadership on the performance of public sector groups. Further, group potency also emerged as mediator between shared leadership and group performance relationship. Limitations and future research are also discussed in the study.Keywords

One of the greatest challenges faced by the modern world is Diabetes mellitus (DM). The physical, social and economic factors involved in the management of diabetes are a continuous strain for the health sector and the government agencies. It is expected that approximately 366 million people will be affected by Diabetes Mellitus by the year 20301. Due to the increased number of people with Diabetes Mellitus using insulin in recent years, more emphasis should be given to the standardization and improvement of insulin administration technique, focusing on properly teaching this technique so that people become aware of their responsibility and make less mistakes during insulin administration. In patients with diabetes, physicians are often concerned about increasing functional limitations that may impede a successful self-management. In particular, the correct handling of the insulin injection requires complex self-management abilities. Among these functional limitations, loss of visual acuity, loss of manual abilities and cognitive decline are of most importance. Considering all this it is decided to undertake study to assess the factors hindering in self insulin administration among diabetic individuals. A descriptive research design and purposive sampling technique was used. Sample size was 100. Structured checklist was used to assess demographic data, factors such as physical, cognitive, environmental, economic, emotional. Findings of the study shows that 61% are suffering with pain and 46% with bleeding due to injection. 54% samples are unaware about rotation of injection site and 48% samples are unaware about insulin drug temperature. 32% samples have skipped insulin due to more workload at workplace and 28% due to travelling. Majority 45% samples cannot afford new syringe, pen and needle tip for every injection. Comparison of factors hindering self insulin administration among temporary and permanent users shows that temporary users, 43.8% have injection loading difficulties and 63% have injection carrying difficulties where as more number of (50%) permanent users have experienced skin color changes at the site of injection. More number of temporary users fearful, anxious, embarrass and felt overburden for family because of insulin administration and have skipped insulin due to more workload and travelling than permanent users. The finding of the study will be helpful to create awareness related to safe self insulin administration practices by means of modern education technology.Keywords

Experiments were carried out to develop mushroom powder using oyster mushroom (Pleurotus florida) with three different treatments. Products were kept in pet jar during storage. Physico-chemical parameters like moisture, ash, fat, protein, crude fibre, sugar, carbohydrates, energy, fatty acids, minerals, vitamins etc. were evaluated. Investigation for organoleptic evaluation of the products was also performed during storage. On the basis of the experimental data it may be concluded that blanched mushroom powder samples contains minimum moisture, due to rapture of cells during blanching process. In most cases, values like ash, protein, fat, carbohydrates, sugar, energy and mostly vitamins; KMS treated samples were found superior over control and blanched samples. During organoleptic evaluation KMS treated mushroom powder sample got better score over other samples.Keywords
