Geological structures (faults, fractures and weak zones) and high heat flow in geothermal areas allow easy passage for release of radon gas to the atmosphere. Radon is constantly transported from the Earth's interior and vented out through exhalation points at permeable fault zones. 222Rn concentrations were measured in a few hot springs and nearby groundwater using RAD7 at Tural and Rajwadi, Ratnagiri district, Maharashtra. The 222Rn concentrations in the hot springs vary from 1087 7± 132 to 1655 ± 177 Bq/m3 at Tural and from 152 ± 67 to 350 ± 82 Bq/m3 at Rajwadi. Groundwaters from wells within a radius of 200 m around the geothermal fields have radon concentration between 1087 ± 132 and 5445 ± 337 Bq/m3. We have assessed the radon activity in the vicinity of the hot springs to understand their hydrogeological control, origin of heat source and possible effect on the tourist and the human population residing nearby. Keywords

Objectives: To propose a hybrid recommendation engine to make perfect order of recommendations for online digital library portals. Methods/Statistical Analysis: The proposed model combines the content-based learning based upon the neutralized factors along with the collaborative learning for producing the recommendations on the basis of the interuser similarity, which is learned from the user’s profile representation vector. The hybrid recommendation algorithm is intended to produce more relevant recommendations for the digital library users. Findings: The proposed has been tested over the different sizes of the data. The proposed model has been designed for the discovery of the similar entities using the neural network classification and the top five entities are utilized for the calculation of the missing profile values to compute the recommendations over the digital library systems. The proposed model’s performance has been analyzed and studied using the statistical performance measuring parameters which elaborates the system performance from various perspectives. The experimental results have shows the robust performance of the proposed model in the terms of mentioned parameters. Application/Improvements: The proposed model has been improved the recommendations by the means of the calculating the inter user relevance to evaluate the recommendations for the user in the scope. Keywords

Objective: To see the impact of demonetization on cashless payment system through comparing the significant differences between cashless payment transactions of three time buckets before demonetization, demonetization and after demonetization.
Method/Statistical Analysis: The study was done for the three time buckets before demonetization (March 2016-October 2016), demonetization (November 2016-June 2017) and after demonetization (July 2017-February 2018), using the secondary data of cashless payment system from the RBI bulletin. The Welch’s mean equality test was used to look at the significant differences of cashless payment transactions of three time buckets.
Findings: Looking at the significant differences of different cashless modes of payment system during the specified three time buckets, we found that during demonetization almost every cashless mode picked a sudden increase in value and volume of the transactions due to the currency deficiency and after the demonetization period due to the currency back in June 2017 the increment in use of almost every cashless mode had been stopped or decreased. From the results, we found that the demonetization move had significantly transformed the use of the cashless payment system, during the period of November 2016-June 2017.
Application/Improvements: Policy implications arising from the study is to achieve the objectives of demonetization move and to promote the Indian economy as a cashless economy, a well-equipped digital network, sound digital knowledge in people, digital security for the transactions and less availability of cash currency in economy are required.
