Osteoarthritis also known as degenerative arthritis or degenerative joint disease is a group of mechanical abnormalities involving degradation of joints, including articular cartilage and subchondral bone. OA commonly affects the hands, feet, spine, and the large weight bearing joints, such as the hips and knees. Research have demonstrated that knee proprioception is effected in knee OA patients. Functional consequences of impaired proprioception may include lower gait velocity, shorter stride length, and slower stair walking time. Improved knee function is possible with changes in proprioception.
Methodology: 30 subjects 15 in one group between the age group of 30 -60 yrs both male and female who met the inclusion criteria were given two sets of balance and kinesthesia exercises . The exercises were done 3 days a week for total of 6 weeks.
Results: The quadriceps and hamstrings strength mean and the barthel's score mean increased for both group of exercises , the first group of exercises improved the quadriceps and hamstrings strength mean increased to 3.53 and 3.93 respectively ,the barthel's score mean increased from 72.5 to 78 post exercise regime. Given the second group of exercises, the quadriceps and hamstrings strength mean increased to 4.4and 4.6 respectively and the barthel's score mean increased from 68.46 to 89 post exercise regime.
Conclusion: For the effective management and improvement in the activity level of knee arthritic patients, the first group of exercises is highly beneficial as compared to the second group. The exercises from the first group can be identified as a method of enhancing traditional means of conservative intervention treating osteoarthritis.

The purpose of the study was to analyze and compare KT-1000 knee laxity as examined by a left-hand- and a right-hand-dominant physiotherapist in a group of patients with an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury and a group of patients, 2 years after ACL reconstruction. The other aim was to measure and analyze knee laxity in a group of persons without any known knee problems. A crosssectional examination of two groups of patients preoperatively and post-operatively after ACL reconstruction and examination of healthy controls on two different occasions was performed. 22 patients who were scheduled for ACL reconstruction and 20 patients who attended a 2- year follow-up examination were included in the study. In the ACL-deficient group, 14 patients had a right-sided ACL injury and 08 patients a left-sided ACL injury. The corresponding figures in the post-operative group were 13 patients with a right-sided ACL injury and 07 patients with a left-sided ACL injury. 20 healthy persons without any known knee problems served as controls. One left-hand- and one right-hand-dominant experienced physiotherapist performed all the examinations. To be able to evaluate the intra and inter-reliability of the examiners the controls were examined at two occasions. The left-hand-dominant physiotherapist measured significantly higher absolute laxity values in the left knee, both injured and non-injured ones, compared with the right-hand-dominant physiotherapist. This was found irrespectively of whether the patients belonged to the ACL deficient or the post-operative group. In the healthy control group, the right-hand-dominant physiotherapist measured significantly higher knee-laxity values in the right knee compared with the left-handdominant physiotherapist. Correspondingly, the left-handdominant physiotherapist measured significantly higher knee laxity values in the left knee. We conclude that KT- 1000 arthrometer laxity measurements can be affected by the hand dominance of the examiner. This might affect the reliability of KT-1000 arthrometer measurements.Keywords

ObjectiveTo translate and adapt the original English version of Shoulder Pain and Disability Index (SPADI) into Hindi.
MethodsThe procedure followed for the translation of SPADI into Hindi was in accordance with the Guidelines laid by American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) Outcomes Committee. The SPADI was successfully translated from source language into Hindi. Minimal discrepancies were found during the process with respect to the concept and construct which were taken care with successive forward and backward translations. The translation produced using the AAOS model was pretested on selected subjects in order to achieve a promising Hindi version of SPADI.
ResultsThe translation undertaken using the six step process revealed no major difficulties in the construct and concept transference. Necessary efforts were made to achieve semantic, conceptual and experimental Equivalence between the source and target language versions. Following mutual consensus and repeated pretesting, the finalized Version (SPADI-Hindi) was prepared.
ConclusionSPADI-Hindi is a well translated and adapted instrument for use in patients with musculoskeletal shoulder pathologies.
