Background

Conservative treatment in which stretching and strengthening exercises are to be given is considered to be effective in the management of Rheumatoid hand.

Objective

To evaluate the effectiveness of two physiotherapeutic approaches in the management of Rheumatoid hand.

Methodology

Study design was experimental and study technique was random sampling. 25 subjects were considered. Stretching and strengthening exercises of hand were given to them. Arthritis Impact Measurement Scale II (AIMS II) and also ranges of all the movements of hand joints and wrist joint were assessed before the treatment and also after 2 weeks follow up.

Results

Results of this study in which range of motion and AIMS-II before giving stretching and strengthening exercise is compared with range of motion and AIMS-II after treatment and its value came out to be more than the associated values in the table. Hence, it says that there is significant difference in range of motion and AIMS- II.
