Approximately, 240 million people are estimated as carriers for β-thalessemia worldwide while 100,000 thalassemic major are born annually2. It is not only affect the children but also their parents due to the cost of treatment involving regular blood transfusions, iron chelation, frequent hospitalization and general medical follow up. Diagnosis of the disease and adjusting with it for parents is considered as a crisis and they react differently. Most of the parents can successfully adopt themselves with chronic disease of their children. In contrast, some of them also may not be successful in coping with it due to lack of access to accurate information about the disease, lack of appropriate support resources, high treatment costs, mental status and social damages. Nurses have a key role in empowerment of parents of children with thalassemia for the child's development needs such as health, social identity, education, self care skills, family and social relationships, emotional and behavioural development; the parents' own capacity to parent, including issues related to guidance and boundaries; and to deal with the family and environmental factors like family history and functioning, employment, income, family's social integration and community resources. Providing effective care to the women with GDM to improve the maternal and fetal outcome is a growing challenge for the nurses. The present study was conducted to identify the effect of a self-care enhancing intervention on the self-care agency of women with GDM. The study used a pre-test pot-test control group design. Forty women with GDM attending a tertiary hospital, selected as a sample of convenience were randomized to experimental and control group (20 each). The self-care agencies of both the group were assessed to form the baseline (88.4±8.7 in the experimental group and 89.1±13.3 in the control group). Participants in the experimental group were given self-care enhancing intervention to enhance their self-care agency while the control group received routine care. Self-care agency of both the groups was compared using independent sample t-test. It was found that the self-care agency of the experimental group (110.7±7.4) was significantly higher than that of the control group (96.4±10.2) following intervention. The mean gain in self-care agency in the experimental group (22.3) was also significantly higher than the control group (7.3). The findings of the study conclude that self-care enhancing intervention is effective in improving the self-care agency of women with GDM. Tremendous technological, political economic and cultural changes have imposed a great stress with reference to staff, cost, equipment, supplies and techniques. Nursing executives are struggling to keep up with the rapid pace of organizational change in health care. Many are trying to jockey their nursing departments into the power arena as the organizational develops along corporate business lines. Is it reality or not (sham). What exactly, is it?And isn't it?

Shared governance is Accountability for decisions and respect for differences of opinion. The traditional management roles move from leading, planning and controlling to the more cohesive roles of integrating, facilitating and coordinating. The entire nursing organization must step back from the daily routine to ask what it is doing and what is being accomplished. The nurse needs a conceptual framework that guides individual and group actions, thinking and values. Without this common set of values or practice beliefs, the nurse cannot answer questions about outcomes of care.

Shared Governance is an organizational innovation that allows the nurses to be a part of decision making process to enable them to deliver high quality patient care and to be involved in decisions about the delivery of care.
K. The joy and ecstasy of motherhood cannot be described in words. Unfortunately this blessing is fraught with danger especially for woman more so in under-developed countries due to inadequate health care facilities. Episiotomy has been routinely used surgical procedure to facilitate delivery. The mother undergoing episiotomy is at risk of greater blood loss in conjunction with delivery, improper wound healing and increased pain during early puerperium. Various interventions have been found to aid the episiotomy healing process which includes cleanliness, applying ice pack, topical application by dry heat, sitz bath, and Kegels' exercises. The present study compares the effectiveness of infrared light therapy vs. sitz bath therapy on episiotomy in terms of wound healing and intensity of pain among postnatal mothers. The study was conducted in postnatal wards of a multi speciality hospital. Using purposive sampling, 60 postnatal mothers with episiotomy were selected. Of these, 30 mothers were treated with infrared light and remaining thirty postnatal mothers were treated with sitz bath. Data was collected using REEDA Scale and Numerical Rating Scale. Findings revealed that both infrared light therapy and sitz bath were effective in enhancing episiotomy wound healing, however, sitz bath was significantly more effective in promoting episiotomy wound healing as compared to infrared light. Infrared light and sitz bath were both effective in terms of reducing intensity of episiotomy pain. Findings revealed no significant association of episiotomy wound healing of the postnatal mothers treated with infrared light therapy and sitz bath with selected variables. However, there was significant association of type of antibiotic taken by postnatal mothers with intensity of episiotomy pain.
