Gradual increase of various hormone related diseases including thyroiditis have been recently reported. Thyroiditis is inflammation of the thyroid gland. In the present study a survey was conducted within the population of twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Different age groups, both male and female were enrolled in the study. 317 survey reports were collected from different areas and analyzed statistically for the prevalence of thyroiditis. A Data sheet was prepared with different parameters which includes a person's age, gender, socio economic status, food habits, physical exercise, family history, TSH levels, BMI etc. The present study reveals nearly 30% of the population was suffering with thyroiditis and increased incidence was observed in middle aged women compared to the other groups. It was also found that Hyperthyroidism was observed more in non-vegetarians and Hypothyroidism was more among vegetarians.Keywords
