Strategic management literature is flooded with the notion of diversification strategy. Some researchers point out that diversification enhances corporate performance while there has been an antagonistic school which held that diversification destroyed corporate value and led to poor performance of conglomerates. The author examines the impact of diversification on performance of seven Indian conglomerates on different parameters such as profitability, market share and growth. Totally these seven conglomerates represented data of 324 companies coming from 80 different industries. Data was collected for the year 2013-2014. This study indicated that there was a very moderate effect on conglomerate performance.References

Working capital management (WCM) has played an important role in achieving profitability for micro, small and medium enterprises. A major cause for the failure of micro and small firms could be attributed to improper WCM. Micro and small ventures are especially susceptible to WCM crisis as they are typically placed in hand to mouth conditions. Lack of funds in tight situations might result in severe existential crisis. With the mission to be the leader in industrial development in India by 2020, Government of Andhra Pradesh has consciously taken steps to fulfill its dreams. This study attempts to comprehend the WCM practices followed by micro and small enterprises in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh.References

Strategic alliances (SAs) have become a central perspective on strategic management of firms. Inter-firm collaboration (and not just competition) as an approach has been established as a new way of thinking for strategy managers. Strategic alliances can create value for firms very quickly, yet history is replete with instances wherein many of them have failed prematurely. SAs can be better managed if managers can apply an integrated perspective. This paper attempts to develop an integrated framework on SA based upon inputs from strategic management theories like Resource Based View, Industrial Organization Theory, Dynamic Capabilities, Agency Theory, Transaction Cost Economies and Stakeholder Theory.References

Strategy initiatives consisted of two major components namely Strategy Planning (SP) and Strategy Implementation (SI). Good firm performance can be achieved because of both good SP and SI. Extant literature has been rich in the advocacy of the need for good SI. However, an integrated perspective on SI has been missing. In this work, the author, based upon contributions from a varied base of extant literature in strategic management (especially on resource based view, dynamic capabilities, industrial organization perspective and stakeholder theory, amongst others) arrived at an integrated perspective on SI. This was carried out through theoretical argumentations by the author based upon the extant theoretical assumptions, axioms and assertions. Keywords

Globalization and associated economic expansion worldwide have created increased demand for infrastructure projects across various sectors in the Middle East, Latin American, Asian and African countries. In India, the role played by the private sector in infrastructure development has increased a lot more than in other sectors. Indian EPC firms have successfully tapped the market potential in international markets across oil and gas, construction, telecom and power sectors. The authors have carried out an empirical and qualitative study with EPC experts. Interviews were conducted with professionals who have been managing international EPC market operations. Doctoral research is one of the main sources for knowledge in the subject domain of Strategic Management (SM). There is increased incidence of working executives pursuing part-time doctoral program. Such candidates with experience in business strategy are valuable because they bring substantive strategy related insights in the process of research. Theory development would be more grounded to the realities in their dissertations. However, such candidates are often uncertain regarding the research process path to be undertaken. The author in this article sets a roadmap through figures and tables. This would help such doctoral candidates to comprehend what is expected of them and what they need to do to attain their doctoral research destination with process efficacy and efficiency. Keywords

Indian civilization has survived in values and practices over the last 4000 years or so. Civilizations that weathered the forces of time were mostly led by healthy leadership practices and systems. India has thus been a very rare context that exhibited good leadership. This stems from Indian civilization with its philosophical perspectives based upon healthy leadership practices. These leadership perspectives could be deciphered as lessons for business leaders. In this article the author developed a set of themes that aspiring or extant leaders could follow to embark on a journey of salubrious leadership. The themes were drawn from ‘vedic’ and ‘yogi c’ perspectives. Eight themes and an integrated perspective on yogic leader have been presented here.References

This article presents a perspective on future of work and evaluates the impact of advancements in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technologies on Strategic HRM for organizations. The authors used theoretical incremental logical argumentation to build up the perspective of harmony to be achieved with natural intelligence of organizational human resources. As this technology develops and matures, organizations will automate most of the rule based “do as directed” tasks. Personne l , who c annot thi nk independently, solve unseen problems, make sense of data emanating from variety of sources and make context specific judgements will almost certainly become irrelevant. Organizations will employ fewer humans and shall have to hire those with new age skills.References

This article presents a framework for business entities to partner with health h diagnostic businesses (HDB). Authors expect that in post COVID-19 scenario, diagnostics operations would become integral to day to day business operations similar to physical security or janitorial services. HDB partnership would become a pressing need for any business that involves intense physical interaction. The authors identify a set of factors that should be considered to decide the type of partnership. The options proposed are acquisition, equity-based or nonequity- based partnership and diagnostics from an accredited entity. Further, a set of steps for each of these options are proposed.References
