To find out the level of hope and positive attitude towards AIDS illness, among Chennai patients. Tamil Nadu has dropped from third to fifth among states with the largest number of people infected with the deadly virus. HIV positive members of the family can find themselves stigmatized and discriminated against within the home. It is found that women and non-heterosexual family members are more likely than children and men to be mistreated. In the workplace, people living with HIV may suffer stigma from their co-workers and employers, such as social isolation and ridicule, or experience discriminatory practices. People with AIDS tend become more depressed or anxious. A positive attitude towards the illness can help the patients accept or overcome the illness more effectively. Hence the present study aimed at finding out the level of hope and positive attitude towards the illness in patients. Exploratory study with ex-post facto research design was used in the present study. Random sampling strategy was used to draw the sample. The sample comprised of AIDS patients (n=30) among which 19 were male and 11 were female. Adult hope scale by Snyder (2002) was used to find out the level of hope among the patients and Silver lining questionnaire by Sodergren and Hyland (2000) was used to assess positive attitudes towards AIDS illness. The results revealed that there is a lot of hope and better positive attitude towards illness among AIDS patients. The mean difference revealed that men and women differ in their level of hope and positive attitude. Illness makes an individual realize his/her true purpose in life and the direction in which they carry their life. From this study we can understand that AIDS patients have hope and positive attitude in life. People with illness should be given more care and counselling to help the in focus in life positively. Keywords

Living away from family brings about the need to adapt to the major changes taking place in a person's life. Some of the changes are positive, while some are negative due to the stress it places on the individual. As a result, the ability to cope becomes a necessity while making the required adjustments. One of the most important factors impacting coping is temperament. Hence the present study was aimed at finding out the relationship between temperament and coping among individuals who stay away from their families. Research design used in the present study was ex-post facto using purposive sampling technique. A sample of 175 individuals was selected for the study of age group 20-30 years. The average number of years spent away from family was 3.4 years. Amongst the sample collected, there were 101 females and 74 males. Rothbart's Adult Temperament Questionnaire (ATQ) was used to measure temperament and Coping Response Inventory by Moos (1993) to measure coping. The results revealed that a significant relationship exists between temperament and coping. There is a gender difference in Temperament and in Coping styles. The study proves the need for counselling services and the necessity of stress relieving techniques for individuals living away from family as their basic source of support&comfort is taken away. Keywords

Changing human behaviour to save the environment is an extremely important topic. There is a big difference between knowing that people react negatively to filthy urban areas or to energy or resource shortages, and getting them to do something about solving problems. We need to devote more research attention to study how we can have a positive effect on the environment; as opposed to focusing as how it affects us. The present study aimed at finding out the relationship between environmental attitude and ecological behaviour among college students. A sampleof 100 students from city colleges was selected using convenience sampling which includes 40 males and 60 females of age ranging from 18 to 32. The tools used in the study were Environmental Attitude scale (Flonan Kaiser etal., 1999) and General Ecological Behaviour Scale (Kaiser & Wilson, 2003). Using Karl Pearson product moment correlation, it was found out that there was a significant relationship between environmental attitude and ecological behaviour among college students. Keywords
