Abstract

The present study has been carried out with the objective to explore the role of mental image and positive emotions on work motivation among security professionals. Tools like Mental Image among Security Professionals (MISP), Positive and Negative Affect Schedule extended (PANAS-X), Work Motivation Questionnaire (WMQ) and personal data sheet were administered on 120 male security professionals. After the initial screening of the data and stepwise multiple regression was applied on the obtained data. The results demonstrated that mental image especially, visual image and auditory image were significantly predicting the work motivation among the security professionals. This gives path for the application of various mental image enhancing methods in this field.

Abstract

The present research attempted to study the role of cognitive hardiness in health and performance of bank manager. Study comprised 200 bank managers (Male = 100) from various nationalized banks from Pune city. Significant positive correlation found between cognitive hardiness and general health among the bank managers. Task performance and contextual performance found significantly related to cognitive hardiness. Regression analysis revealed that cognitive hardiness is a strong predictor of health and task performance.

Abstract

Understanding happiness among young adults has been a core human endeavor and presently covers areas from education to work. The present study is an empirical investigation, to predict the role of personality, psychological well-being, and gratitude, in happiness among young adults. This study is based on a youth sample (N=109) with ages ranging from 18 to 23 years. There was a positive significant correlation observed among personality, psychological well-being, gratitude, and happiness. To predict the best predictors of happiness, step-wise regression analysis was carried out. Results based on step-wise regression demonstrated that happiness among young adults is significantly predicted by psychological well-being, gratitude, and extraversion. These three factors accounted for approximately 37%, 41%, and 44% of the variance respectively. This emphasizes the importance of these variables in the happiness of young adults.

Abstract

The aim of present study was to find out gender differences between adolescent girls and boys and their use of Internet (high and low) on personality. All 400 participants of the age group between 16 to 19 years participated in this study, who belonged to Arts, Commerce, and Science colleges from Pune city. They were administered Internet Addiction Test (lAT) by Young(1998) and NEO-Five Factor Inventory (NEO-FFl) by McCrae and Costa (1992). The Mean and SD for girls and boys on internet addiction and sub dimensions of Neo- FFl were calculated. On the basis of Median split- high scorers and low scorers on lAT test were identified. Personality differences on these groups (Boy s vs. Girls&high vs. low scorer on lAT) were studied by calculating Means and SD on personality sub dimensions. The F test was applied to study gender differences on personality dimensions and also to study personality differences between high and low internet addicted adolescents. Results revealed that adolescent girls scored significantly higher on neuroticism, openness to experience and lower on conscientiousness. High internet addicted adolescents scored significantly higher on neuroticism and extraversion and lower on openness to experience and agreeableness than low internet addicted adolescents.
