Corporate Social Responsibility:Moving forward from Charity to Responsibility: A Case study of Coca Cola India

Corporate social responsibility is a vital element of an organization. CSR means what an organization does positively for the society in which it exists. CSR policies can make a positive influence on consumer minds so it's proven that many organization apply their CSR Techniques to create differentiation and build a positive or long lasting brand image. In India too CSR is quickly gaining importance.

There are not many definitions are available about CSR. As per Business Dictionary CSR means "A company's sense of responsibility towards the community and environment (both ecological and social) in which it operates. Companies express this citizenship through their waste and pollution reduction process and by contributing educational and social programs and by earning adequate returns on the employed resources.

Coca Cola Profile: Coca cola was founded in 1886 and is a leading manufacturer, marketer,&distributor of non-alcoholic beverages. Its headquarters is in Atlanta, USA. Coca Cola first entered in India in 1956.

Coca Cola Case: On Aug 5, 2003 the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), an NGO in India issued a press release stating "12 major cold drinks brand sold in and around Delhi contain deadly cocktail of pesticide residue". This created a massive wave in India and globally too.

Objective:

• To find out the CSR initiatives coca cola has taken in India

• To find out the measures taken by Coca cola to promote CSR Activities and their impact on brand image.

Methodology: Secondary sources have been adapted for this study. This article uses publically available information on company's website, online newspapers, magazines Non-Governmental organization (NGO) Reports.
