First Report of Scrub typhus Cases in Dhemaji, Assam, India
The study was conducted in Dhemaji district of Assam. Blood samples were collected from patients having symptoms of fever, headache, muscle pain, cough, etc. Serum was separated and examined for detection of Scrub typhus and dengue IgM antibody. Three numbers of cases were found Scrub typhus IgM positive. This study confirmed the first report of Scrub typhus cases in Dhemaji district. One case had shown co infection of Scrub typhus with Dengue. All cases had travel history. It indicates that the infection might be carried from other places. So, active surveillance is needed to find the actual prevalence of Scrub typhus cases in Assam.
