The liberalization process is continuing in almost all the fields and globalization is promoted as a strategy by all nations of the world. These processes are accompanied by a number of unprecedented challenges for the management of firms. Product variety is increasing. Markets are becoming saturated with conventional products. Competition is becoming stiffen Customization and cost reduction are simultaneously demanded by customers. There is increasing demand for quality and convenience in use and disposal. There is a strong advocacy for environmental integrity .Resource crunch is felt and everywhere there is need for innovation and creativity to resolve the new challenges.The onus for solutions is on the managers.
