Present study focus on the effect of foliar spray of vermiwash of different vermicomposts prepare from different animal agro and kitchen wastes on the growth, flowering period and productivity of wheat (Triticum aestivum), gram (Cicer arientinum), pea (Pisum sativum) and mustard (Brassica compastis) crops. The vermiwash of vermicompost of goat dung with vegetable wastes 10 mg/m2 shows significant growth in wheat which is followed by goat dung with wheat bran after 30 days of showing. After 50 days the combination of buffalo dung with vegetable wastes show significant growth in case of wheat crops. The combination of buffalo dung with gram bran gives highly significant growth of gram plant. The combination of horse dung with gram bran has maximum growth in mustard and pea plants. The foliar spray of all the different concentration of vermiwash has significant decreasing in flowering period of all the experimental Rabi crops. The maximum significant productivity observed in crops treated with different concentration of vermiwash with respect to control.Keywords

Gandhi bug Leptocoryza varicornis is one of the major pests of rice crop which reduces the crop yield. Foliar spray of single and binary combination of vermiwash with biopesticides prevents loss of panicle and increase the crop yield. Significant decrease in Leptocoryza varicornis population was observed after foliar spray of vermiwash with neem oil followed by aqueous garlic and annona leaf extract. The combination of neem oil with vermiwash caused complete removal of the L. varicornis infestation. The vermiwash (obtained from buffalo dung and municipal solid wastes) with neem oil or garlic bulb extract is better alternative to manage the Gandhi bug population in rice crop during panicle formation stage which ultimately enhances the yield. The organic farming is the boon for farmers. The aim of present study to enhance the growth, productivity of rice crop and decreased its pest infestation by the used of vermibiotechnology with different biopesticides.Keywords

The exotic species Eisenia fetida have been known to useful in management of different organic wastes and for production of organic fertilizer. The result deals with the period of initiation of development of clitellum and formation of first cocoon; and number of hatchlings emerged out of cocoons of Eisenia fetida in tertiary combinations of buffalo dung (BD) combined with different agro-wastes (Rb=rice bran, Ws=wheat straw, Bb=barley bran, Gb=gram bran, Bp=banana peel). The tertiary combination of BD+Bp+Gb important for development of clitellum in Eisenia fetida. In tertiary combinations of buffalo dung with different agro-wastes, development of clitellum was significantly faster and specific combination of BD+Ws+Bb showed significant period of initiation of cocoon. There was no significance difference in period of cocoon formation and incubation period of cocoon. Significantly high number of cocoon productions was observed in combination of BD+Ws+Rb (26.00±1.71 cocoon/worm). The higher number of hatchlings were observed per worm produced in BD+Ws+Rb (47.58 hatchling/worm) and sowed maximum growth rate (7.29±0.03 mg /worm/day) of Eisenia fetida was observed in combination of BD+Ws+Gb. The combination of buffalo dung with Ws and Gb is a best feed materials combination for better growth and development of Eisenia fetida.Keywords

The aim of the present study was to investigate the heavy metals accumulated by earthworm Eisenia fetida from sewage sludge (SS) with different animal's dung during vermicomposting. The cobalt (Co) and lead (Pb) were significantly decrease in vermicompost from all the combination of SS; maximum decreased Co (84.83%), and Pb (83.69%) from the SS as combination of BD+SS (in ratio 1:1) and HD+SS (in ratio 1:3) respectively. The Co and Pb was significantly increase (4.34% and 7.14%) in earthworm body (10.127±0.003 and 14.319±0.005 mg/kg) when treated in the combination of PD control and BD+SS in 1:3 ratio respectively. The Pb was also observed in the earthworm body after treatment of SS with different combination of animal dung. The Co and Pb conc. were observed in earthworm body before inoculation at the level of (9.687±0.003 mg/kg) and 13.296±0.011 mg/kg respectively. These metals concentration were decreased in vermicompost resulted from as significantly increase in earthworm body as zooaccumulation during vermicomposting. The earthworm Eisenia fetida also important macro-organism was responsible for the reduction of heavy metals due to the accumulation in their body tissue.Keywords

Laboratory tests were conducted to observe the sub-lethal exposure (20% and 60%) of LC50 of herbicide 2,4-D of different feed materials of buffalo dung with agro-wastes of different exposure periods. There was time and dose dependent effect of sub lethal 20% and 60% of LC50 of different feed material of buffalo dung with agro-wastes of different exposure periods on the reproduction and development of earthworm Eutyphoeus waltoni. Sub-lethal (20% and 60%) of LC50 of different exposure periods were observed after treatment of different combination of buffalo dung with agro-wastes. The maximum reduction in clitellum development (days) cocoon production/worm and hatchlings/cocoon as well as survival of hatchlings was observed in the treatment of 20% of 24h LC50 (102.16mg/kg) of buffalo dung with wheat straw and gram bran (BD+Ws+Gb) 20% of 24h LC50 (108.04 mg/kg) of buffalo dung with wheat straw (BD+Ws) and 20% of 24h LC50 (108.08 mg/kg) of buffalo dung with gram bran (BD+Gb) as well as 20% of 24h LC50 (110.02 mg/kg) of buffalo dung respectively on the clitellum development period, cocoon production/worm and hatchlings/cocoon as well as survival of hatchling of Eutyphoeus waltoni, respectively. There was no significant (P<0.05, t-test) difference between control and 20% of LC50 of BD+Ws+Gb of all exposure periods shows that the vermicompost of feed material of this combination was more potential for use in agricultural fields because it enhance the tolerance power of earthworm Eutyphoeus waltoni against herbicide 2,4-D.Keywords

In the present study, the conversion potential of earthworm Eisenia fetida of waste feed materials into rich nutrients biofertilizer and chemical analysis of feed materials before and after vermicomposting was observed. The significant decrease in EC, pH, C/N ratio and organic carbon whereas, significant increase in level of total potassium (TK), TKN, total phosphorus(TP) and total calcium (TCa) in different combination of vermiwash of buffalo dung with poultry litter and leaf litter in compression to initial feed mixture were observed. The increased level of plant nutrients in final vermiwash of different combinations of feed mixture demonstrated that the vermiwash, of biological wastes can be a valuable biofertilizer for sustainable land restoration practices.Keywords
