Abstract

Background : Wound healing continues to attract great attention of clinical and experimental investigators. There are ample evidence of those unfading interest in the innumerable review that keep coming up in the literature. Aims and objective to evaluate the effectiveness of Haemocoagulase in wound healing processes and make some recommendations if any?

Material and Methods : There were fifty patients admitted for various ailments had to undergo surgical procedures. Haemocoagulase was used for enhancing the wound healing.

Results : There were 08.33% cases where gapping was noted when Haemocoagulase was instilled S/C and in 20.00% when administered I/M. Gapping was lowest i.e. only in 06.25% cases in combined sites. There was no discharge in all the three levels of instillation. It proved that Haemocoagulase when administered in combined sites i.e. I/M + S/C. it is more useful in comparison to alone i.e. either S/C or I/M.

Abstract

BACKGROUND: Wound Healing represents a highly dynamic integrated series of cellular physiologic and biochemical events, which occur exclusively in whole organisms. Clinically wound healing differ in simple closed wounds and open wounds. "All Real Surgeons Have Been Interested In Wound Repair".- Whipple's Dictum

AIMS and OBJECTIVE: To know the efficiency of Feracrylum and Haemocoagulase in wound healing. Design of study : On hospital based prospective study.

MATERIAL AND METHODS: One hundred cases divided into two groups. Each group consists of 50 patients and one group instilled locally (wound) with one percent feracrylum while the other group haemocoagulase and results were interpretated on discharge.

RESULTS: Majority of wound healed by 14th day. Discharge from wounds were noticed in a few cases in early post operative period. Both Feracrylum and Haemocoagulase promotes post operative wound healing by creating adverse atmosphere for infection.

Abstract

It was observed that most of the patients were between 21 to 30 years and 50 and above years of age group . The youngest being 3 years and eldest more than 75 years old. 28% patients were operated of perforation peritonitis followed 26% belongs Hernia 9% and 7% patients were found suffering from intestinal obstruction and cholecystitis respectively 60 % patients have undergone planned surgical intervention while rest 40 % were operated upon in emergency. Regarding nature of anesthesia given to the patient 73% were administered general, 22% spinal and only 5% patients were operated in local anesthesia.
