In the present study, anti-ulcerogenic potential of Avocado fruit extract was evaluated using two different models of gastric lesions induced in experimental rats; 1) Indomethacin-induced gastric lesions and 2) Ethanol-induced gastric lesions. Pretreatment with oral administration of the extract of Avocado fruit extract (300 mg/kg) prevented the formation of acute gastric lesion induced by both the experimental models: further, treatment with the ethanolic extract of Avocado fruit extract for a period of 15 days significantly reduced the ulcer index, ulcerated surface and significantly elevated the levels of glycoprotein contents in gastric juice. Keywords
