Abstract
Globalization is reshaping where and how major manufacturing companies make and sell their products. Companies across a wide range of manufacturing industries have recognized the importance of Digital Manufacturing for significantly improving their competitiveness in today’s volatile economy. Organizations using Digital Manufacturing technologies are realizing tremendous production improvements and reductions in resource waste. Digital Manufacturing itself is embracing emerging technologies such as mobile communications, virtualization, and cloud computing to help companies find new ways to run, grow, and transform their organizations. This paper attempts to underline the evolution of Digital Manufacturing and the impact of emerging technologies such as Cloud and how they are shaping the future of Digital Manufacturing.
