The necessity of meeting the demand for high strength and refractory materials with the development of high technology has resulted in the development of newer manufacturing processes like laser machining. CO2 laser is a four level gas laser which uses a mixture of CO2, N2 and He to realize the lasing action. This paper deals with the application of CO2 laser in cutting steel and acrylic. The cut surface studies, material removal rate, profile accuracy and material characteristics are highlighted in this paper. The interaction of laser with the cut surface is found to be dependent not only on speed of cutting and laser power but also on the material properties.- ANN Application for Wire Erosion Rate Analysis in Wire-EDM Process
