Drilling of Fibre Reinforced Plastics (FRPs) is important to facilitate the assembly operations for geometrically intricate composite products manufactured in parts. The drilling induced damage often results in high rate of rejection and affects the long-term performance of the product with a drilled hole. The aim of the study is to develop a knowledge based tool that could provide a common platform for information regarding damage free drilling of FRP laminates. The code of the program, has been written in Developer C ++. The code developed as a part of this study saves valuable time of the researchers and scientists by providing a common platform for retrieving information regarding the drilling of FRP laminates. The code may further be designed into web-based software that can be used by the engineers and scientists worldwide.- Drilling of Fibre Reinforced Plastic Composites:A Review

This paper presents comprehensive and exhaustive review of research done in drilling of fibre reinforced plastic composites. Decades of research shows that by keeping the thrust force below a critical value the drilling induced damage can be prevented. Researchers have played with feed rate and tool geometry (point angle, helix angle, and chisel edge angle) so as to keep thrust force below the critical limit. Lately, researchers have tried to devise intelligent drilling process in which feed rate is continuously manipulated such that thrust force is always kept in the safe limit that is below critical value. This paper further represents some important directions for minimal drilling induced damage. Gaps in research, where more effort needs to be put in, are also identified towards the end of the paper.- Effects of Welding Variables on Mechanical Properties of FE410WB Steel in SAW
