Basic Design Aspects of Compact Planetary Gear Box

Planetary gearboxes are getting wide acceptance especially to transmit a high torque in a limited space as well as for high reduction ratio. Earlier due to the complexity of design, manufacture & assembly, these types of gearboxes were not of much attention. But presently, due to the development of modern design and manufacturing techniques, these types of gearboxes can be produced very accurately. Hence, with improved quality, the load sharing between these gears in the gear boxes has become almost uniform. So, these gearboxes have taken the centre stage white selecting the gearboxes. The following article highlights the critical area that has to be addressed while designing these gearboxes.
