Quality Improvement Using Kaizen in a Process Industry:A Case Study

Today's managers often try to apply sophisticated tools and technologies to deal with problems that can be solved with low-cost approach. As the saying "Work smarter, not harder". Kaizen is an important vehicle for employee creativity and independent initiative. Kaizen, first and foremost, builds the employees morale and self-respect. The concept of Kaizen is deeply ingrained in the minds of both managers and workers at Hero Cycle Limited (Cold Rolling Division). An attempt has been made to implement Kaizen practice in a process industry to increase the overall profit of the company. A steering committee was formed to monitor the overall Kaizen initiation and implementation. After implementation of Kaizen methodology; significant reduction in gauge variation quality defects has been achieved.
