Abstract
The term, diversity, reflects a co-existence of employees from various socio-cultural backgrounds. Diverse group composition leads to improved decision-making processes aided by increased innovation and creativity (Bantel& Jackson, 1989). Purpose of this paper is to find out the effects of gender based diversity on employees performance with specific regard to communication, conflicts, cohesiveness. The authors surveyed 52 employees from 4 IT industries in Pune. The study results gender diversity influences the performance of the employees and increases the cohesiveness. Study also reveals that due to the presence of opposite gender employees enjoy the work. Diversity in gender increases the barriers in communication among the workplace. The paper extends the literature on finding the relationship of diversity with group behaviour, conflict and creativity, innovations in decision making.
