The information security policy framework is designed on the basis of type of business organization. Hence, the policy framework will be based on the domains identified by the security team as per the business objectives of companies. Software companies are mainly product-based and BPO companies provide service support for the products. This indicates that the number of domains of security policies for software and BPO companies is more. Among the types of IT companies, Software and BPO companies' scope for Information security is wider and broader than in case of Hardware companies.

For the hardware companies usually, the product has to be physically designed and then manufactured. Here the role of information to be stored or access comes after the product is completely ready in its physical state. Whereas in case of software based products and services the role of information starts from the initial state till the product is completely developed and available through various services.

Hence, for software and BPO companies more number of domains are required to meet security requirements which are not so applicable for hardware companies.
