The Indian society has seen a vast change as far as the status of women is concerned. The thought of the society that women are soft, shy and homemakers has far been outdated. Today women are walking hand in hand with men. But the fact remains, that even if women are forced to work for a earning they are required to accomplish all the household chores before they step out for their jobs. The women have been given an added responsibility, but the society is not ready to share their responsibility. So the overburdened women have to slog days in office for office work and evenings at home preparing for the cooking, caring for people at home - parents/parents-in-laws, husband, children and other members, household chores, planning the groceries, cleaning, dusting, etc.

The study is conducted to find out the details about the problems faced by working women in upper middle class in Pune city as far as the balance between their personal and work life is concerned.
