IT’s Role Importance in Academic Libraries

Digital revolution has changed the publishing trends of information sources and also the relationship between researchers and libraries. Libraries always give a helping hand to reaserchers in their research. Reference service is a traditional and effective tool for this purpose. With the rise of Web 3.0 library services became more effective and more useful to patrons in a unique form. Subject Guide is the latest form of the reference service. This article gives detail information about the concept Subject guide along with its definations, purposes, objectives, its design, components. Authors also focused on some softwares for creation of subject guide. This article includes some example of subject guides along with the role of reference librarian in developing subject guide. Authors explain the role and importance of Subject Guide with the help of model Subject Guide. This article treats Subject Guide as a co operative reference service and states its usefulness in the absebce of reference librarian.
