Impact of Non-Performing Assets on Profitability and Productivity with Special Reference to Janata Sahakari Bank Ltd

Co-operative banks are stressed with mounting non-performing assets (NPA), which is one of the major determining factors of profitability and productivity. Hence, NPA management has become perilous job for co-operative banks. This paper evaluates the influence of nonperforming assets over the profitability and productivity of the bank. The results from the Pearson's correlation and regression analysis reveal that there is a negative correlation between the variables; non- performing assets, profitability and productivity of the bank. NPA, thus becomes one of the determining factors of profitability and productivity. Hence, management of NPA develops, as a principal fact for the bank for upholding the financial efficiency.
