Abstract

The electric potential in a membrane doped with sorbitan monooleate (Span 80) placed between 0.5M NaCI and 0.5M KCl aqueous solutions was investigated by a previously reported method using a return map and a phase space portrait. The results show the existence of a critical potential value V_C The system can be saidlo be in an intermittent transition. When the amplitude occasionally exceeds V_C, the system returns to a state of potential value below V_C. This is the first evidence of the existence of intermittency found in such a membrane system.
