A simple, rapid and accurate RP-HPLC method was developed for the determination of racecadotril in solid pharmaceutical dosage form. The method showed a linear response for concentrations in the range 10-200 μg/ml using methanol: water (80:20 v/v) as the mobile phase with detection at 231 nm and a flow rate of 1.2 ml/min. Solution concentrations were measured at a weight basis to avoid the use of an internal standard. The method was statistically validated for accuracy, precision, linearity, range, ruggedness, robustness, forced degradation, solution stability, and selectivity. Quantitative and recovery studies of the dosage form were also carried out and analyzed; the % RSD from recovery studies was found to be 0.53. Due to the simplicity, rapidity and accuracy of the method, we believe that the method will be useful for routine quality control analysis. Keywords

The purpose of this investigation was to develop a ketoconazole cream with rosin for both topical and systemic delivery. Creams were prepared by using rosin as one of the components in different proportions with different cream base combinations. The drug excipients interaction studies were carried out and results revealed that there is no interaction between the drug and the excipients used in the formulation. The prepared creams were evaluated for their physicochemical properties, pH, viscosity, particle size, drug content and in vitro release studies. The release of the drug, ketoconazole was measured for eight hours and compared with a standard marketed formulation. The formulation (F8) fulfilled all topical formulation parameters; it can be used for the systemic topical drug delivery. Keywords

A new dissolution medium was developed for the antidiarrhoeal drug, Racecadotril. The drug is poorly soluble in water; it is not official in any pharmacopoeia. In the present study was to develop a new dissolution medium for Racecadotril. The composition of the medium was selected based on the earlier information and solubility data of racecadotril at 37 ± 0.5°C. Solubility data revealed that water consisting of 3.0%w/ v sodium lauryl sulphate could be a suitable dissolution medium. The discriminating power of the selected dissolution medium relative to other dissolution mediums was evaluated and the results further justified the usage of 3.0%w/v sodium lauryl sulphate in water as dissolution medium for racecadotril. Keywords
