Abstract

The paper presents a taxonomic revision of the genus Urginea Steinh. (Liliaceae) in India. 4 species are described ; synonyms are given ; original citations and relevant references to Indian and regional floras are mentioned. Type specimens are indicated. A key to the species is worked out. Notes on distribution, phenology and ecology of the taxa are given. Urginea coromandeliana (Roxb.) Hook, f., U. wightiana Hook. f. and U. govindappae Boraiah et Fatima are reduced to synonyms of U. indica Kunth.

Abstract

(Liliaceae) in India. 3 species are described with all synonyms, illustrations, original citations and references to Indian regional floras. A key to the species is given. Distribution, phenology and ecology of the taxa are worked out. Types are indicated and exsiccata studied are cited. Scilla grifftthii Hochr. is reduced to a synonym of S. hoheriackeri Fisch. et Mey. Ledebouria Roth is treated as a subgenus under Scilla L.

Abstract

Weed seeds of fifteen species representing 12 genera and 7 families have been observed, contaminated in wheat samples available in Calcutta ration shops. A key has been prepared for identification of these seeds.

Abstract

Studies on pioneer collections of Allium L., at CAL furnish new data on taxonomy and phytogeography of the genus. Critical examination of exsiccate and type materials reveal validity of two species and reduction of two binomials. Seven new records and additional notes on all 25 species of Allium in India was provided in this note along with a key for identification, distributional maps, are also given in this paper.
