The paper records 9 genera, 56 species/varieties of orchids as new records of taxa for the state or Orissa. The enumeration provides correct names of taxa dealt with, the basionym and relevant synonyms, if any, and is followed by citation of specimens collected during the last thirteen years. Notes on ecology and phenology are followed by records of distribution. Bulbophyllum micranthum Hook, f., Nervilia punctata (Bl.) Makino, Luisia filiformis Hook f., L. primulina Par. & Reichb. f. form new records of species for India. The distributional range of 110 taxa of orchids reported to-date from Orissa supports Gamble (1892) that Orissa is the meeting ground for the Himalayan and South Indian elements of the Indian flora.- A New Species of Tropidia (Orchidaceae) from Tamil Nadu, India

The present communication reinstate the genus Odisha S. Misra and the subspecies Odisha cleistantha subsp. cleistantha (Subtribe Odishinae: tribe Orchideae: Orchidaceae). An in-depth discussion of the typical characters (which is observed as constant in series of biotypes) of the genus Odisha has also been provided here to counter for its erroneous merger in the genus Habenaria Willd. based on characters of secondary importance. Comparative illustrations have also been provided in support of our finding revealed from study of a large number of biotypes from Odisha state, India. A key to both the subspecies of Odisha cleistantha i.e., Odisha cleistantha subsp. cleistantha and subsp. flabellata has been also given here. Keywords

The paper enumerates the 25 species orchids under 18 genera that occur in Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary in Karnataka. This includes 10 endemics, 2 regional endemics and 13 rare species. This observation calls for detailed botanisation in the area to assess the complete orchid flora of the sanctuary as also to initiate specific conservation measures for it.Keywords
