The present paper deals with the vascular plants collected from Champaran District, North Bihar, deposited in the Central National Herbarium (CAL). The work presented here does not purport to be a complete one. A Flora of North Bihar could be attempted on the basis of a lot of more field works in due course. The enumeration includes 552 species, 16 varieties under 362 genera and 84 families. The leading families are Leguminosae with 61 species and 4 varieties, Gramineae with 55 species and 1 variety, followed by Cyperaceae with 30 species, Euphorbiaceae with 29 species and 1 variety and Compositae with 26 species respectively. The arrangement of families and genera is according to that of G. Bentham & J. D. Hooker in Genera Plantarum (1862-1883) and the sequence of specific and infraspecific taxa is according to the arrangement in J. D. Hooker's The Flora of British India (1872-1897). The nomenclature has been checked and revised wherever necessary.

Trigonotis Stev. (Boraginaceae-Eritrichieae), occurring in Asia and temperate Melanesia has about 35 species. The area taken up for revision is India, including Sikkim and Bhutan. C.B. Clarke (1883) described 5 species from this area. Since then one species and a variety have been added to the list of Indian Trigonotis, by nomenclatural transfers (Johnston, 1925), and T. gracilipes Johnst, a Chinese plant, has also been reported from Sikkim (Johnston, 1937). The author now adds two more species, T. caespitosa Banerjee, T. smithii Banerjee and one variety, T. multicaulis Benth. ex Clarke var. cavei Banerjee, which are new to science. These new taxa are described here.
Efforts have been made to give full descriptions and synonymy of the other taxa taken up for revision, along with a workable key. Nomenclature has been checked and revised wherever necessary.

In connection with our studies in the Ventilagineae (Rhamnaceae), we have found it necessary to make a new combination, Smythea velutina and to describe a new variety under it: S. velutina var. kingiana. Latin diagnosis with illustrations for the new variety are appended.- Ophioglossum pendulum Linn. (Ophioglossaceae)-a Rare and Interesting Plant from Great Nicobar Island

Ophioglossum pendulum Linn., a rare and interesting plant, collected by the authors from the Great Nicobar Island during a Joint Scientific Expedition in 1966 constitutes a new record fear India. The doubt that existed among the earlier workers about its possible occurrence in India has been cleared after a critical review.- On the Occurrence of Solanum khasianum Clarke Var.
