Recent literature is reviewed and additional evidences presented to support Willis who had split podostemaceae into two families, Podostemaceae sensu stricto and Tristichaceae. In view of the available embryological and anatomical evidences it is suggested that further studies should precede attempts to trace the ancestry of these families to Crassulaceae or Saxifragaceae. Keys and distribution data for the genera of Tristichaceae and Indian Podostemaceae are given.- A Nomenclatural Note on Andrographis laxiflora (Acanthaceae)
