Abstract
Cytotoxic effects of effluents of both sugar and textile industries were studied in the ischolar_main meristem cells of Hordeum vulgare plants. A comparative investigation on the somatic cells have been made on the basis of cytological observations such as mitotic index and other chromosomal abnormalities. Result of the present study indicated that both the industrial effluents have inhibitory effect on mitotic index and induced several chromosomal abnormalities.
