Reading habits of tribal Students of Dr. Ambedkar Vidyanikethan CBSE School, Njaraneeli, Thiruvananthapuram : A case study

The paper examines the reading habit of tribal students of Dr AmbedkarVidyanikethanCBSE School in Thiruvananthapuram District. A structured Questionnaire with open-ended and closed-ended questions was used for collecting data. The questionnaire were distributed to 163 tribal students following Stratified random sampling method.The Statistical Package for Social Science(SPSS) was used to analyze the collected data. The findings of the study revealed that majority of the tribal students read books other than textbooks. But the time devoted by them for reading is less than one hour. It indicates student’s low interest in reading. Thus the study conclude that tribal students need to improve their reading habit .
