Sustainable Development in Knowledge Era:Role of Library and Information Centres

The paper throws light on Ex- President Dr. A.P. J. Abdul Kalam’s dream project PURA (Provision of Urban Amenities in Rural Areas). It concentrates on the how knowledge connectivity can be used as driven force in achieving sustainable growth. The role of library and information centres in smoothening the knowledge process and act catalyst in the social transformation process by helping to create societies based on knowledge and skills. It briefly explains how educating society can be the driving force in the journey of achieving developmental sustainability. The roles expected of libraries/ librarians in building knowledge societies for sustainable development.
