Abstract

The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon, brought together, in 1993, an international group of scholars - six from the social sciences, two from the natural sciences and two from the humanities - to reflect on the restructuring of the social sciences. They were drawn from the USA (2), Europe (4), Asia (1), Africa (2) and the West Indies (1).
