The main reason for undertaking an English translation of this 125 year old Marathi publication containing two lectures delivered by Justice M. G. Ranade in 1872-73 is to try to dispel the many misunderstandings about them, about their contents, etc., that have proliferated in both Marathi and English writings about them and consequently about Ranade himself.
