Abstract
Recently fossil bone fragments of dinosaurs were discovered from an area around West Khasi Hills District, Meghalaya. These fragmentary bones lack diagnostic characteristics for any taxonomic identification. However, the size and shape of the larger bones, their sedimentary association (indicating continental depositional environment) and more exclusively palaeohistological study confirmed their dinosaurian origin. Further search in the area has resulted in finding and collecting a few more complete skeletal elements. These are found within a sandstone horizon of Mahadek Formation of Late Cretaceous age. Based on study of these additional material, the dinosaurian bones of Dirang area can be assigned to Sauropoda.
