It has been brought to our notice by Professor E. K. Kempf, Federal Republic of Germany that the names of two new ostracode species - Loxoconcha (Loxoconclra) subalata and Semicytherura indica - recently described by us (Khosla and Nagori, 1989, pp. 46-47, 50) are preoccupied by Loxoconcha subalata Brady, 1911 and Semicytherura indica Neale and Singh, 1985, respectively. As both our names are primary junior homonyms they are rejected and replaced by Loxoconcha (Loxoconchas) keralaensis Khosla and Nagori, and Semicytherura padappakkaraensis Khosla aad Nagori.- A New Species of the Ostracoda Genus Neosinocythere From the Lower Miocene Beds of Lakhpat, Kachchh

Thirteen ostracode species are recorded from the upper marlstone unit of Pondicherry Formation. Of these four species are new. These are :Bythocypris indica, Cytherelloidca pondicherriensis, phalcocythere (Phalcocythere) bireticulata, and Phyrcocythere nodosa, The present paper describes and illustrates the new species. The finding of a species of the genus Phyrocythere extends the geographic limits of the genus from Saudi Arabia to India during Early Territary. Keywords

Sixteen species of non-marine Ostracoda are recorded from the Inter-trappean beds in a well, under excavation near Mohgaon-Haveli (spelt as Mohgaon in Survey of India Toposheet No. 55 WlO), about 8-10 km west of Sausar town on the Nagpur-Chhindwara road. Two species - Lirnnocythere bajpaii and Cypridopsis nzolzgaonensis are described as new. Ten species are assigned to taxa previously described from the Inter-trappean beds of different localities in central and western India. These are - Danvininla torpedo Whatley et al., Limnocythere deccanensis Khosla et al., Frurnbocythere tumiensis anjarensis Bhandari and Colin, Paracypretta jonesi Bhatia and Rana, Zonocypris gujaratensis Bhandari and Colin, Zonocypris spirula Whatley and Bajpai, Paracandona firmarnenium Whatley and Bajpai, Cyclocypris amphibolos Whatley et al., Cypria cyrtonidion Whatley and Bajpai and Cyprois rostellum Wh atley and Bajpai. Four species are left in open nomenclature, which are: Cypridopsis sp., Eucypris sp. A, Eucypris sp. B and Eucypris sp. C.Keywords

Fifteen species of Ostracode are recorded from the freshly exposed Inter-Trappean beds along the newly constructed broad gauge railway line near Viri village, SSW of Anjar town, Kachchh district. Four species are assigned to the taxa previously described from the Inter-Trappean beds of Anjar, seven species to the taxa described from Lakshmipur and one species to the taxon described from Mohagaonkala (Mohgaon-Kala), M P. The taxonomy of three species - Paracypretta bhatiai, Zonocypris spirula (in part), and Paracandona jabalpurensis earlier described from Anjar, Lakshmipur and Jabalpur respectively are revised. The first two species are described as new and the third transferred to the genus Limnocypndea Lyubimova Other species are also illustrated in the paper. Keywords

The paper records for the first time the occurrence of a rich and interesting ostracode fauna from the type section of Khadir Formation, Khadir Island, Rann of Kachchh, Gujarat. The fauna comprises 54 species of which 30 are assigned to the previously known taxa and all these are illustrated herein. Twenty-three species are left under open nomenclature and one species, Luphocythere vertipolycostata, is described as new. Besides Khadir Island, the latter species also occurs in the Khadir Formation of Bela Island and the Fort Member of Jaisalmer Formation, Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. On the basis of these ostracodes, a middle-upper Bathonian to upper Callovian age is proposed for the Khadir Formation. Keywords

Cypris cylindrica was originally described by Sowerby (in Malcolmson, 1840) from the Deccan Intertrappean sedimentary beds of the Sichel Hills, Andhra Pradesh. Whatley and Bajpai (2000) recorded the species during recent years from the Intertrappean of Lakshmipur, Kachchh district, Gujarat and stated that Kachchh specimens are identical with the types of the species housed in the Natural History Museum (NHM), London. They recorded the species as Mongolianella cylindrica. The species, however, lacks distinctive shape and hinge structure of Mongolianella and on the contrary closely resembles Stenocypris cylindrica major (Baird, 1859) in shape and internal characters including having adont hinge, large anterior vestibulum, arcuate lists or striae on free part of inner lamella, numerous short marginal pore canals and 6 large adductor scars, the topmost being much elongated. On these bases the species is herein transferred to the genus Stenocypris Sars, 1889.Keywords

Except for the east coast of Andhra Pradesh, the Deccan Inter-trappean sedimentary beds of Peninsular India have been long known to yield non-marine microfauna, mainly ostracods. These have been extensively described from different localities of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan states. Occurrence of mixed microfaunal association of marine, brackish water and non-marine foraminifers and ostracods is being recorded from these beds from Jhilmili, Chhindwara district, Madhya Pradesh. It comprises at least two or more planktonic foraminifer species, and one brackish water and 17 non-marine ostracod species. The brackish water ostracod, Neocyprideis raoi (Jain, 1978) has been previously recorded in great profusion from the Inter-trappean beds of Duddukuru, West Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh, which have been assigned Early Palaeocene age (Khosla and Nagori, 2002). Presence of molt stages of the bulk of non-marine and brackish water ostracods in the Inter-trappean beds of Jhilmili is suggestive that they were inhabitants of low mesohaline inland pool/lake. The planktonic foraminifers were carried to this pool/lake by a marine transgression probably from the east coast of India through the Trans Deccan Straits. Keywords
