The nonmarine sediments are characterised by dominating presence of kaolinite, while the marine sediments have differing clay mineral composition. The Intertrappeans are represented by Na+ moutmorillonites and the Raghavapurarn clays are characterised by a combination of kaolinite, illite and montmorillonite in decreasing order of abundance.
