Abstract
The Amanisha river has shifted from west to east over the area and has left behind an array of abandoned channels and gullies under blown sand cover. This imparts considerable restraints on the urbanisation of the area. The potential environmental hazards include accentuated gully erosion, aggradation of the river leading to flash flood, underseepage in abandoned channels, sand mobilisation etc. The areas under potential hazards have been demarcated.
